Weekend need to know: Royal Agricultural Winter Fair and other events; TTC updates and road closures
It’s the first weekend of November and events in the city range from the return of the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, charity fundraisers, and live music.
There are subway disruptions during the weekend along the Yonge-University line and road closures to keep in mind. Scroll below for those details.

Top events
Royal Agricultural Winter Fair
The 100th annual Royal Agricultural Winter Fair is back. It’s the first time the fair has returned since before the pandemic and the fair’s royal ambassador this year is Winston the draft horse.
The fair is the world’s largest combined indoor agricultural and equestrian show. The event celebrates the best in agriculture, local food, and equestrian competitions from across the country.

Come Sit By My Fire
Come Sit By My Fire is back for its second year at 218 Geary Ave. The event is meant to be a cozy day of free, live music, art, and performances.
The outdoor event is an all-ages block party produced by the arts event organizing group Mondo Forma.
This block party event goes from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday.

Down Syndrome Association of Peel fundraiser
The Down Syndrome Association of Peel is hosting a fundraising event to raise money to support their Reading and Speech Therapy programs.
The event is happening Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Mississauga Convention Centre.
Emo Night Toronto at Sneaky Dee’s
It’s another emo night at Sneaky Dee’s on Friday from 10:30 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Emo Night North is a weekly event in Toronto for those aged 19 and over, with the goal of bringing alternative communities together while enjoying the best emo musical artists.
Blackpink world tour
Blackpink is coming to Hamilton this Sunday with a show at FirstOntario Centre.
The South Korean girl group is on a world tour right now and are performing their second album Born Pink.
You can get tickets here for the concert which takes place on Sunday at 6 p.m.

TTC closures
Line 1 subway closure
On Saturday and Sunday, trains on Line 1 between Wilson and Lawrence West stations will alternate use of the southbound track to accommodate maintenance work on the northbound track.
The TTC says during single-track operation riders may experience longer than normal wait times and may need to exit their train and cross the centre platform to board another train to continue their journey.
Regular service will resume by around 6 a.m. on Monday.
Road closures
Construction
- Adelaide Street from west of Simcoe Street to Bay Street is reduced to one shared lane, while the intersection of University Avenue and Adelaide Street is reduced to one lane in each direction due to ongoing work. The intersection of Adelaide and Simcoe streets is partially closed with no through traffic south of Adelaide. This work is expected to be completed by November 15.
- Adelaide from Widmer to Simcoe streets is reduced to one shared lane and there are partial intersection closures at Widmer, John and Duncan streets.
- College Street is undergoing a major overhaul, with full and partial closures of the road between Bathurst and Bay streets.
- Expect closures on Bloor Street, between Parliament and Sherbourne, which has been impacted by long-term construction that is behind schedule.
